Mac not seeing some files on Windows external drive

I have a lacie external drive that I have about 50,000 songs on. My windows machine sees all of the files, but when I plug it into my macbook pro, it only sees about half of the files. Do I need to copy the drive to a drive formatted specifically for mac, and if so, how do I do that? If I just copy the drive through my mac, it will only copy the files it sees, and will not solve the problem.

If you have a PC that reads all files and a Mac the needs the files and have enough space, I would suggest you transfer files from one to the other through Ethernet. It will take some time but the Mac will be able to build its file system the way it likes it.

Thanks Chevy. I am a little weak in networking. Are there simple instructions you can share to make my mac see my pc? I tried just connecting the ethernet but it doesn't seem to see it. Sorry if this is elementary, but this is something I do not have experience with.
Thanks,
Steve
