Mac OS X and Samba

I have Mac, PC, and Linux computers on my network. I have Samba running on the Mac and Linux to enable file sharing between all of them. I am able to connect to the PC and Linux from my Mac. But when I open the "Connect To Server" dialog from the Finder, only the PC shows up.

Do you know if there is a setting in Mac OS X or Samba that would enable the Mac and Linux Samba servers to show up in the "Connect To Server" dialog?

Could be you have the Workgroup set different on the PC from the Linux box, and maybe thats confusing the "Connect to server" dialog.

No. All of the computers are in the workgroup "WORKGROUP". I have tried changing the workgroup and the Connect To Server dialog sees the new workgroup, but lists no computers in in except the PC.

Is there a ethernet hub installed? I am working on similar prob and found this about ethernet hubs;

The network adapter does not work when an ethernet hub is put between it and the router, meaning the router is connected to the hub and the Xircom network card is connected to the hub via standard CAT 5 cables.

This is caused because some cable modem/DSL Routers do not have an uplink port. This problem can be resolved by using a crossover cable between cable modem/DSL router and ethernet hub.

keep us informed!

I don't see how the underlying network topography is relevant, since it is all one subnet. But here is what I have:

Cable comes into the cable modem. It is connected to an ethernet router/4-port switch. Two ethernet 8-port switches (upstairs and basement) are connected to the router/switch. The Linux is connected directly to the 4-port switch. The PC is connected to the basement switch. And the Mac is connected to the upstairs switch.

There are other computers on the network, but they don't come into play in this problem.

(Your problem seems to be in understanding how to create an ethernet that contains hubs/switches/routers; and not with Samba.)
