i've got a new 17" imac intel with 1.5gb of ram.

i've been having a problem with mac os x help files when i bring up the help it just shows up blank. Help seems to be working in every other setting though. in apps like iphoto, itunes, safari, etc. only when i bring up help from the finder does it show a blank window. and if i type something into the seach field the "sprocket" just spins continually.

i've called apple help on this issue and they've had me delete the cache files associated with help and some "help.playlist" files. and then restart.

this worked, but only until i logged out and then back in or until i had to shutdown and then reboot.

any ideas on what will solve the problem??

thanks in advance!

Failing the above solution from apple, you may need to delete the following property list files from the ~/Library/Preferences folder.

com.apple.helpviewer.plist
com.apple.help.plist
com.apple.helpui.plist
and re-launch Help Viewer.

I'm having the same trouble with a 10.4.5 Mac Mini not showing the system help files. It doesn't help to do what I've read below. Oynx helps but only for one opening and then it goes blank again. HELP. I know others have had the problem but I haven't seen the answer.

delete the following property list files from the ~/Library/Preferences folder.

com.apple.helpviewer.plist
com.apple.help.plist
com.apple.helpui.plist
and re-launch Help Viewer.
