Mac OSX not wanting to share files

I'm trying to connect my G3 Laptop (running OS 9.2) to my Dual G4 (Running OSX 10.2) using a DSL router. I have all the settings how they should be (sharing on, etc.), but it's not allowing me to share files between the two, or use let the G3 use the DSL.

It works okay when the G4 is running in classic mode, the G3 can connect to the DSL, and I can share files, but when the G4 is booted in OSX, neither computer recognizes the other.

BTW, I haven't loaded the patches to OSX 10.2. Could that be an issue?

Any suggestions would be helpful.
thanks!

What settings are you using in the Sharing preferences? Have you turned on file sharing, etc? Do both machines see the network okay?

Also, can you ping from one machine to the other using the ping tab in the Network Utility (You will need the IP address, which you can find in your Sharing Preferences)

I figured it out, By default, both computers were named the same thing! I think that was the problem. I changed the names in the personal sharing control panel and now they work like a charm.

thanks for the help
