hi,
sometimes i need to be able to dump tracks from my ALESIS HD24 hard disk recorder onto a computer for processing, and then back. the HD24's ethernet port makes this easy. i have a MAC powerbook (running OS 10.3.7), which can recognize the HD24 as a hard drive in a browser or FTP program. however, the computer i need to edit/process on is in another studio and is a DELL.
i'm guessing that what i need is an intermediary drive for working on my files on the DELL as well as storing them and shuttling them back and forth. this drive needs to be able to be recognized by both my MAC and the DELL via USB. i heard something about a FAT32 format being able to accomplish this, but i've heard sometimes those can be a bit flaky (not recognized by one computer or another, causing crashes). i was wondering if anyone here could recommend a good, fast, reliable drive that works with this formatting for this purpose.
any thoughts?
