Mac Powerbook G4 won't start

I have a Powerbook G4 and tried to download a software update on Friday for Mac OS 10.4.11. The software did not download properly so I tried again. The same thing happened and my computer froze up. I restarted my computer and now OS X won't start. I can't do anything on that computer. What is going on? The window with the status bar for OS X is the only screen that will come up. Nothing happens.

Try restarting it on your Install Disk. Run Disk Aid to see if that fixes the problem.

If that does not work, try a Clean Reinstall--save your data, files, porn, et cetera. If that works, you are fine to clean things up and retry the software update.

If that does not work, consider a better utility program like Disk Warrior which can take a "picture" of your drive so you can save data. TechTools is another option. This involves a bit of $ and time to obtain I understand, but the good news is the versions for the PowerPC chip can be had relatively cheaply.

Good luck!
