Mac Pro 2009 8 Core 2.66...Black Screens

Hey guys,

This is our video editor Mac running OSX 10.6.8, Final Cut Studio 3. When iditing in FCP 7, all of a sudden I'm getting "black screens of death...and right before all of my audio in playback is garbled. Can't find the problem. Is there any newer driver for your Matrox card available?
Which exact card is it?
Can you try without the card, just to confirm that it's not panicking without it?
