Mac To PC File sharing

I have a Mac and am trying to set up file sharing to my rommates XP. I have made a network on the pc and have enabled file sharing on the mac, but neither computer can see eachother. What have i done Wrong. So confused here. HELP!!

Have you enabled SMB/CIFS on the Mac?

Yes i tuned that on, and its the same exact name as the other computer. The PC can see my computer and connect to it. I cannot ping the pc's IP address. Is this because of the firewall on the PC, If so how do i set the exception.

Have you enabled the local network from PC's firewall?
