Mac to PC printing

I have a Macbook that is connected to my home network through a Netgear wirless rounter. My printer, an HP C3180, is connected to a PC running Windows XP through a USB port. The printer works great on the three PC's I have but prints out garbage from the Mac. The Mac sees the printer just fine. The printer just does not like what it sees from the Mac. The Mac is OSX v. 10.4.6.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dean

A shared printer is a networked printer. You cannot use your USB print driver for a networked printer. You need a CUPS driver. You may find the CUPS driver for the HP Photosmart C3180 here. I also recommend downloading and installing Guteprint 5.0.0. It contains a bundle of CUPS drivers for various printers and documentation for using CUPS.

Cool. I also just use my Mac Mini 1.42 G4 as a PC/MAC print server, and network storage device. Works great. Just so much easier just using the mac to mac printing. The windows DELL Laptop takes a while to spool to the mac. so its just easier to print from the mac. But ima check out that Guteprint stuff too.

Thanks!
