Hi All,
I need some help with a MacBook (circa April 2008) that is currently doing a pretty good job of playing dead. Most of the time while plugged into the wall the power led on the cord is not lit and even though the battery is 70% full the laptop will not power up. When I press the power button there is no response at all.
Occasionally after reseating memory/hard disk the green LED goes on and then I can boot to the white screen first and then the screen goes black and the boot up stalls. Unfortunately I cannot put the OSX install disk in because there is already a WindowsXP installation disk in the drive that I am struggling to get out.
I have been running this device on a combi of Leopard and WinXP since I bought it and have experienced no problems with this combination (except for underestimating the size of the Windows partition needed). Recently I decided to reinstall the machine with a fresh version of Leopard and this time I dual booted with Windows 7.
Leopard worked fine until I boot camped. Afterwards Windows 7 completely took over and there was no trace of OSX at all, until yesterday when the situation completely reversed and I woke up to find OSX and no Windows 7. In an attempt to recover the data that was now trapped on the NTFS partition I tried to install XP and this is where I find myself now.
Do you have any ideas?
Thanks,
J.
