Macbook Pro Missing Letters

My Macbook Pro seems to have a small issue that for a while I just thought would work itself out. When entering into a new window to type, the first few letters of what I type do not show up. This causes plenty of iChat typos as well as emails. For a while I let it go. But it has just gotten plain annoying.

Is there a fix for this? Or is it a hardware issue?
I have seen blog topics that have MANY with the same issue, but no way to fix it.

Unfortunately, I've encountered this problem too and I don't think there is a solution for now. I've heard of people having their keyboards replaced and finding this did not cure the problem, but I've also heard of keyboard replacements solving it... My own suspicion is that it could be software/firmware related, as memories of "flashes" on screen with the GeForce 4MX graphics card come to mind (may people felt this was a hardware issue, but it was solved with a firmware fix). Hopefully it is something Apple will sort out soon. In the meantime, you might have already seen it but there is a very large thread in the Apple Discussions about this topic...

I'll probably wait until some point in the New Year, but if the loss of the first character persists, I may contact AppleCare or visit an Apple Store. :(

This skipped first character also occasionally happens with my MacBook Pro, but only since I installed Leopard, never in Tiger.

I've heard of people complaining both about keyboards that freeze up and keyboard issues where a few characters are skipped (usually the first one(s)) at times. Well, Apple has now released a software update to deal with the "responsiveness" of the keyboards, so it may or may not solve the dropped characters issue...
