When I try to boot normally into my 2006 MBP it hangs on the blue screen which normally shows that OS X is loading.
I know for sure that it is a driver issue with the graphics card because I am able to boot into Safe Mode and after deleting the ATI kext files the system will boot like normal (just the graphics card is not running fully).
I notice that when I do a fresh install of the OS everything works, but there is some artifacting on the screen, like green dead pixels, which indicated a problem with the graphics card. It is not until I reboot that I'm no longer able to get into OS X unless I delete the ATI kext files.
