Macs on a Novell network

Does anyone have experience on using Macs on a Novell network. Our network has just been upgraded to netware 6.5 and now we have problems accessing files from the server. Specifically, we cannot save files to the server from within an application (e.g. Word). A message comes back saying either "the conection has been terminated"(it hasn't) of that "the disk in full" (it isn't). However we can save to the server drives by simple drag and drop in the finder. Of course logging into the server is no problem either.

What are you using to give access to the macs? the third-party client for netware, or a server-side tool to mimic a Windows/Unix share?
 
We access the server through the Native Apple protocols i.e via the "Go" menu and type in the IP address. We have alias's on the dock to various drives/folders etc and they work just fine. Tried the third party Novell client from Prosoft Eng but it was cumbersome and semifunctional so abandoned it. Native file access protocol is activated on the server as per the Novell Netware instructions.

The problem existis for all our Macs (G3's to G5's, All either Jaguar or Panther with all current updates)
