Macworld & MacAddict vs. This Forum

I've been a subscriber to Macworld and MacAddict for a long time but since I found this site they seem to have becomee obsolete.

I like flipping through the glossy full color pages, and there's funny editorials to be found, like the one in the new Macworld about how Hypercard is dead, but the mags are old news by the time I read them.

However, the mags do have my bathroom market covered. I'm still not to the point where I bring my laptop in there.

Anyway, my hat's off to this site for turing my Mac into my very own little household 24-hour IT guy

I agree, habilis. Once they make a laptop computer you can roll up and stick in your back pocket, I'll cancel my subscriptions to the above mentioned magazines. Until then, there's nothing like the excitement of getting the latest issue in the mail!

If I read the threadstarter correctly, what he means is that online forums and news/rumour pages have replaced printed magazines for him. That's what happened to me a few years ago, too.

What I did then was to carefully select the 'computer' magazines I still buy and read:

c't (German), because it's bi-weekly (not that far behind the 'net) and has very, very good (critical) articles and is platform-agnostic.

WIRED, because it's a great magazine with good authors and covers stuff that really interests me.

Macintosh magazines: Nope. We're faster.
