mail and signature problem

i've just tried to change some of my signatures in mail.
the change is done perfectly, but when i close and reopen mail, the signatures are the previous ones.
so i've tried to rebuild the mailboxes and repair the permissions.
always the same problem.
then i've tried to trash the signatures.plist file in ~/Library/Mail folder.
i open mail again and now the signatures list is obviously empty.
i enter some new signatures and quit mail.
no new signatures.plist file in mail folder.

what's happened?
any help?

In Mail preferences - do you have the boxes checked to show signature on composed window? Does your signature show up in the signature preference pane?

When you open a new email to compose, does the signature show up?

This may sound dumb, but when you created the new signature...did you click on the okay button or the cancel button? Those two buttons are pretty close to each other.
