Two questions about Apple's Mail application (Mail.app):
1. Do the locally stored messages conform to RFC-822 format? I.e., will I be able to port them (easily) to other standards-conforming mail applications, like Netscape?
2. Has anybody been able to make Mail and/or Address Book work with an LDAP server. Netscape (v.4.x and 6.x) work fine with my company's LDAP server. Apple's Mail.app does not. When I type a partial name into the "To:" space, the text "Searching..." quickly flashes at the right-hand margin--so I know it's trying--BUT IT NEVER SUCCEEDS. NEVER. What's the trick? Or is LDAP a broken feature?
Thanks for the help.
PS: I know next to nothing about LDAP. All I know is how to setup the search root (o=CompanyName, c=Country), but this was enough to make it work in Netscape. If the answer to making it work with Mail.app is more involved, please be explicit with your advice.
