MAIL doesn't like my aliases

I have POP accounts and I have aliases set-up on my server. I have it set so that any mail sent to my aliases goes to my POP accounts. Then in MAIL, I have accounts created so that I can send email with any of my aliases in the From field.

Problem is, somethings when I download my mail, it sometimes tries to download my the Aliases as I have those dummy accounts set up in MAIL. I have panther and in the "Advanced" section of my Accounts preferances, I have the checkbox unchecked which says "Include when automatically checking for new mail."

But sometimes it gives me these dialog boxes asking for passwords. It shouldn't have to do that with the above unchecked but it does. It doesn't matter if I have passwords entered or not, I get these stupid dailog boxes. Any ideas what I can do? The problem seems to be getting worse.

The request for password simply indicates an authentication failure, which could have any number of causes. Frankly, Mail is crap in this respect and I still use Claris Emailer whenever possible!

You don't have to set up fake accounts in order to be able to select different addresses as your "from" field. Just add the from-addresses to _one_ account, separated by commas.

Excellent suggestion but that is only useful if you use the same name. For example:

fryke <info@MyDomain.com>
fryke <service@MyAlias.com>

But you can't do it like this:

fryke <info@MyDomain.com>
Customer Service<service@MyAlias.com>

That is why I am forced to use the fake accounts.
