Major display problems.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a copy of Call of Duty. After installing this game I have had major problems. (See games forum for description of problem with game).

The problems manifest in that the display on my screen suddenly goes "haywire". The text and images seem to shake from side to side and while this is happening the system freezes. This may last a few seconds but in more extreme cases the shaking ends up leading to the whole screen becoming a coloured pixel mess! Only solution then is to restart by holding the power button down.

None of this happened prior to the installation of Call of Duty (although I ran a demo version of this game for two weeks without any problems).

I have repaired permissions several times and each time the same items get fixed. These are as follows:

"Repairing permissions for “Macintosh HD”
Determining correct file permissions.
We are using special permissions for the file or directory ./Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays. New permissions are 16893

Permissions repair complete"

This has no effect on the problem as it has continued despite several permission fixes.

I have also run the extended hardware test and this has found one error in the video ram - 2nyd/1/4:2103.

I have also done a clean re-install of the software. Problem still persists.

I am running a G5 os 10.3.8. on a 17 inch LCD screen. I have 512 mbs ram and 64 mb video ram. My mac is only two months old!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Video problems often result from logic board problems. I would call Apple Support to get the problem documented, for a diagnosis, and to get the highly likely repair process under way.
