Major Problem, Experts Needed!

I am having a major problem I just installed AOL on my G3 iMac and I was just signing on for the second time when all of the sudden the screen flashes blue and everything freezes and I am forced to restart. Upon restarting I get a blinking question mark, something I am somewhat used to from OS 9, but because I am only running OS X on this machine I am forced to connect my external firewire drive and boot from 9.21. When I go to the startup disc control panal, the only drive that appears is the current one that im booting from, the firewire. I have also tried restarting using the option key, OS 9.2 Cd, and even Norton Utilities 6, none of which can find my internal drive. Has my internal hard drive died?

Thank You for your support!

You answered your question.
Obviously is not a logical problem like tree level corruption.
If your motherboard is alive and well and cables are tight then...your hard drive died in peace....and your info too...

Thanks for your support, but I took care of it. I tossed a 40 gig Western Digital 7200 rpm [iMac will do fine apparently with this speed] drive, works like a dream, a fairly simple operation except for couple screws really.
