Making an Older iMac Airportable: Possible?

I bought two older graphite iMac G3s. Both have the capability to put an airport card in them, but the cards are so expensive on eBay. Is there another way I can make them work with my airport? I tried one of those units that plug into the USB port, but it didn't work even though the Best Buy guy said it would. Any ideas?

Supposedly there are certain USB adaptors that are Mac compatible or that you can get Mac drivers for. I have only heard this secondhand (from a reliable source). You might try Googling for "USB 802.11b Mac" or whatever.

The D-Link DWL-122 from what I've read worked with Macs, however it is discontinued according to D-Link's website.

I myself am not sure, D-Link products for me always bring bad luck.
