making images

I'd like to be able to create and restore images like ghost on windows. Is there a similar program for OSX. It would be much easier to do this from a workstation acting as a ghost server rather than trying to use external hard disks.

I've used disk utility with an external drive, but then you have to have a seperate OS installed for each type of mac to be able to boot from the external drive and drag the image over to the client machine. this is a pain and I'm looking for a better solution as I support many different macs.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can continue to use Diskcopy to make the image of your drive because it boots into a full 10.3.x enviroment from the CD. It is REALLY slow to boot, but it is the only solution that I know of other than having a panther server to do netboot with.

You could also use bombich's Carbon copy cloner to make your images fairly easily. Runs from your current OS install.

Is there no network utility similar to that of ghost that you don't need a X server? There has to be an easier way than doing it one by one.
