I've quickly searched Apple Support and this forum for appropriate information, but didn't get what I was looking for
Work necessitates that I use my PB on multiple networks. On the office network, we use a proxy server to connect to the Internet and have (Ethernet) Mac address filtering.
On one client's network, I connect using a static IP address and have to specify a router IP in order to access the Internet. No Mac address filtering.
I created a new location for this client's network and configured (manually) IP addresses etc appropriately.
Upon connecting the computer onto the office network later, I changed the location, but the office IP address and subnet mask were not picked up. Under network status, there was a message that the computer was connected, but no IP address was assigned. I deleted the new Location and erased all the settings for the client's network. I then clicked the "Renew DHCP Lease" button and I was able to access the Internet and other computers.
I'd like to know how to configure my network locations so that I don't run into such problems in the future.
