Manual IP locks out Internet access

I am running 10.3.9 on a G4 Titanium (400), connected to a Netgear modem router (IP 192.168.0.1)
Following previous threads on how to access a HP USB printer (LJ 1022 USB) from a G3 B&W running OS 9, I set the IPv4 manually at 192.168.0.101.

With Printer Sharing eanbled this worked fine.
And in OS 9 under AppleShare, I am able to see the G4.

However on the G4 whenever I try to start Safari, I get an error "Server not found"
The only way I can get around this is to revert to DHCP, and let the IP be assigned dynamically to the G4.
I am guessing that I need to look at the router configuration setup.
Any suggestion please?

The reason you're getting websites with DHCP and not manually is because when you have it set to DHCP, it's getting the DNS nameservers automatically from DHCP as well. If you set it to manual IP, you would also have to supply the IP addresses of the nameservers from your ISP as well as the domain name (Ex: bellsouth.net). When you have it set to DHCP, check the Network settings on the Mac to see the IP addresses of the nameservers. Write them down and then apply it manually when configuring the IP address manually.
