Maxing out my iMac

Hi,

I have an old spherical base iMac. It is a 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4 with 256 MB DDR SDRAM. If I go into Hardware settings, the title is PowerPC 7455 v3.3 (tech 0). I've been looking through the Apple website about maxing out this computer (especially RAM), but cannot find anything.

I would really apprechiate it if somebody could tell me how much of RAM (and what type of RAM) this mac can handle (ie: give me a good website).

Thanks.

crucial? lowest prices?

good ram, but not the cheapest -and other posts say that if you ask for ram based on the Mac model, you'll get a more expensive quote than you will if you ask for the spec you need. (PC2700 DDR for you if I see it right). Try ramseeker for a variety of choices.

Biggest stick I see in that spec is one gig. The iMac has one free slot, so that will be your biggest possible upgrade at the moment.

I'm pretty sure that model has two RAM slots... one real close to the motherboard and another, more user-friendly, slot when the base is removed.

Actually, I'm 100% positive of that fact. I remember because when we were ordering them, the intent was to max out the internal RAM slot as much as you could, then you could just add a new RAM module after the fact and not replace / throw-away the first RAM card.
