I have a DiamondMax 10 300GB HD, External. It is a USB/Firewire HD. It was DOA and I replaced the PCB on the HD. Now I have flashing blue lights on the front. At Maxtor they say this means its process data.
The main problem is that my iMac cannot see this HD. Disk Utility and System Profiler cannot see it.
I have done the following: Used Tech Tool, Drive Genius, Disk Warrior, installed as an IDE drive in another Mac as a slave.
One suggestion was to flip the on/off switch several times while running, I did. No solution.
I believe that the data is still good, but that is a question. If the power simply stopped(which it did)working, then no harm should have been at the HD, except for the VTOC on the disk.
So the second question is how do you restore the HD Mac Directory on a HD?
Finally, any suggestions or solutions or clues as to what I need to do?
P.S. I know about the $700.00 to $1200.00 clean room solution from Maxtor, but I'm not there yet. My book is on the HD with all the pictures so it may come to that at some point.
Thanks for your help
Garrett
