i have a mac g4 400 os9
before i only had 2 64 memory cards installed and in my system apple profile it said i had 128 built in memory but in my memory control panel it says i only have 90 built in memory. why is it different? whenever i open adobe illustrator it says i dont have enough memory to run. i already allocated alot of memory to illustrator beforehand as well.
so then i bought a 128 memory card and i still have the same problem.
i have a 128, 64, and 64 memory card in my mac. and in my system profile it says i have 256 built in memory but in my memory control panel it says i have 221 built in memory. again why is it different. there is an asterisk by one of the 64 saying this is a slower dimm. anyway wouldnt 256 ram be enuff to open just illustrator.
in both cases i have to turn on virtual memory and put it to its max (available for use on diskwhich is 996) for it to work. is this aproblem cuz i know u suppose to put it one higher than your built in memory but when i do that it doesnt work either. opening illustarttor that is. the error i get when opening illustartor is "i dont have enough memory. try changing the partition of illstaror by getting info or ..." could this be that i allocated too much memory to illustrator but then again i got this msg before i aloocated memory as well.
i dont think buying more memory would help. 256 should be more tha enough to just open illustrator because my other mac has 321 and i have so many programs at once without a peoblem. anyway please help if you can. it would be much appreciated. thank you sorry if this is so long hehe
