MIDI input for my Mac.

without investing a billion zillion dollars, i'd like a midi controller for my mac. i just write music in my free time, and a MIDI controller would help a great deal.
can someone suggest one? i don't have a sound card with midi input, so i guess i'll have to get a MIDI->USB converter.

There is a company called Fatar that makes GREAT MIDI controllers without breaking the bank. They are also the keys maker for many well known brand of synth.

Hope this helps. I have a wieghted Fatar Studio 2001 from them. They are a hit with many keyboard players.

would there be any negatives to going a tad cheaper than that? i'm looking for something more in the $150 range, since i have to pay about $50 for a MIDI->usb converter.
