Sometimes when I am surfing the web with my modem... (it's a USB PHS, like a cell phone. I live in Japan.) Occasionally it will suddenly disconnect, and that status in upper task bar thing will just flash "disconnected" over and over again.
The modem lights will be stuck on like it is busy, but this will never stop.
In order to regain control I have been rebooting the machine...
I couldn't notice the process which is responsible for this in a ps -aux... is there some way I can identify it? I just down every other program and still couldn't identify the one responsible for the modem connection.
Any ideas on how I can get around this? I will be satisfied if I can just kill the continuously disconnecting modem thing... I'll figure out why it freaks out in the first place later.
Oh, also, when it is in this state, even if I unplug the modem, OSX still runs that disconnecting announcement over and over and when I plug the modem back in I still can't connect.
Very strange.
Any help appreciated!
