Modem Error?

The other day, I tried to connect to the internet (like I do every single day) and after a bunch of modem sounds, I got an error message that read: "Modem error. Please verify your settings and try again."

I verified all of my connect settings, called my ISP and everything checked out fine there. Nothing helped.

I am running Verizon Online on a Powerbook G4 1.33 GHZ, 80 GB.

I figured that it was definitely a modem problem and I took it to the Apple Store and they were able to dial up using their username and password.

If anyone has any clue on why my Internet Connect feature will not work anymore (just out of the blue!), please enlighten me!!! I need this laptop for work and everyone just seems to be blameshifting and not helping.
