Monitor Resolultion Problems

I have an old Powermac 7200 and with my new router, would make a great computer just to browse when someone else is on the iMac. However, awhile ago due to problems with the monitor, I had to put a 13 inch Apple monitor that offered only 640x480. I have managed to fix the previous 15 inch one, but when I connect it, the only option is still 640x480 while I know it was giving me 1024x768 before. Is there a way how I can get it to those higher resolutions? I am running Mac OS 8.6.

Eh... I'll give this a shot....

In the "Monitors" or "Monitors and Sound" control panel (forgot which one), make sure the "Show recommended resolutions" is not checked. then choose it in the part at left.

Hopefully that helps

Actually, I just developed the same sort of problem, except it's on a beige G3 233 running 10.2.4. One day I'm running at 1024x768, then the next day when I turn it on, it boots into 640x480 mode -- and it's the only mode available! (I checked to make sure the 'recommended resolutions' was unchecked.) I didn't change anything as far as hardware goes.

I think it just has the 2MB video RAM. Do you think that could be the problem? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dan
