Mono sound on 10.3?

I just got a new ibook im happy with, but i wanted to watch a movie with my girlfriend at the beach with headphones, so i had to use 2 headphones and a splitter, but for some god forsaken reason i cant find a way to make OSX use mono sound so i we can both hear the movie. We ended up watching it with the built in speakers which sucked, since we only got one side of sound each.

Is there anyway to make the sound mono on the new iBooks? :confused:
 
Why not just go to RadioShack and get a stereo splitter and a 2nd set of headphones... Then you can both listen in stereo.
