More performance from an iBook...

I'm planning on buying a 512mb stick of PC100 RAM for my ibook. I have the new ibook btw.

But I am looking to add a 21" CRT to my ibook and found out my my iBook has a lo res output of 1024x768.

Do they make a external firewire video card that I could use to effecitvly run the 21" CRT?

I do a lot of Photoshop and need the bigger screen for my photography.

Thanks

Justin

No. However, with a non-official firmware upgrade you can enable dual monitor support and can therefore get greater than the 1024x768.

Check it out here.

But this just works with the radeon 7000 or higher graphic cards. It's not working with the rage (ibook 2002).
For instance if you have 8mb vram on your ibook, you can forget about it.
And there are no firewire video cards. The connection would be too slow and the latency too long for graphical output...
Sorry dude

Maybe you should try http://macparts.de/ibook/ its the origin of the ibook dual monitor firmware hack. I've tried this hack around 1/2 years ago (manually entering the code directly in the firmware menu > it is still working)
In the meantime the author made an automated "patch" (I believe), so you don't have to tinker around in the firmware menu.
