Hi there -

Anybody got any inside info on X version release dates for these? Anonymity guaranteed.

Quark Xpress
Adobe Premiere
Strata 3D

Only reason I ask here is because I feel a bit of a nit sending companies e-mails and snailmail asking about OS X release dates, even if I do get a reply. And info (if any) on their websites is always so vague!

I'd like to know what you think the time-scales are. Isn't second-guessing just such fun??

Cheers, Lazzo

(PS: I reckon NOBODY will come up with anything about Strata 3D! Well?)

I honestly don't know that Adobe is going to release Premiere X ever. Final Cut Pro 3.01 came out and has been out for some time; iMovie has always been there. Coming out with another second-rate video editing tool might not make much sense for them.

Don't get me wrong tho, I much prefer using Premiere to FCP3, it's less complicated, but more featured than iMovie; though this might sound a bit like I'm contradicting myself ;)

Look at Microsoft Office X, where's Access and FrontPage? ;) Oh yeah, there are already WAY better Macintosh-native applications like Dreamweaver, GoLive, and FileMaker to accomodate that. Well that's my guess at least...

Quark has InDesign 2, and well I'm afraid I'm not familiar enough with Strata 3D. Hey, i'd REALLY like to get my hands on an X version of Vue d'Esprit; I saw one NATIVE X version on an iMac in my local Mac store...but haven't seen it on their shelves. hmmm.

Vue d'Esprit is available, but I haven't seen it anywhere either. However, there's a 30 day trial available from e-onsoftware.com's website and it can be purchased from there too.

I like Premiere precisely because it IS middle of the road, at the moment that's ideal for my work. And I really don't want to splash more money on yet another app. Adobe just say that they are planning an OSX release/upgrade, but no idea when.

InDesign is Adobe software and in direct competition to Xpress - but it's a clunky programme. I really want to like it, but it won't let me!

I think I may have spend a LOT of money on Cinema XLR7, as I need good animation tools.

Oh, well... better I spend the money than let the taxman get it.
