Mounting FTP witht he finder not recommended...

I tried using the go->Connect to server thing in the finder to mount an ftp drive on two different 10.2 machines and I had to to hard reboot both of them.
It works fine if you are mounting an anonymous ftp server, but I tried this:

ftp://user:pass@domain.com and i couldn't even ssh into my box to kill the process. The whole GUI locked up. It wasn't pretty.

Exactly. In the older cutsy Mac OS days, the OS smiling at you was fine I guess. But in the more modern industrial strength unix--based Mac OS X days, smilies are no-no's. ;)
