i would like to connect to my home PC which runs windows 98 and mount the hard drive on my iBook (OS X 10.1). do I use samba to do this or will I have to get DAVE? and if I do have to use samba, could someone direct to where I could learn how to do this?
thanks.
axel.

really, please let me say something that i hope you don't take rudely, but please search the forums, there are multiple threads on it already.

search for "smb", "samba" and you will be fine.

what he wants is to use the win98 machine as server and mount its shares on the iBook.

all you have to do is start sharing directories on the win98 machine and then connect to it from the finder. you don't need Samba for that, which would be the SMB-*Server* for a UNIX style OS like Mac OS X.

You also don't need Dave (although it's easier to use) because 10.1 already has an SMB-Client in it. Search the forums for that, but I'd also search Apple's Support Forums, because that's a likely case to be discussed over there.
