moving from osx to 9.2 on my ibook 2002

Recently I started up my ibook on 9.2 and I was amazed. It was so much faster than 10.2.4! Ok, unfortunately I got a Rage 8MB graphic in my ibook and scrolling is a nightmare over 10.2.4.
So, what do you guys think? Is it worth to change, if I am not really stucked to the unix platform?

I thought about doing the same thing. I use my laptop for word processing in the office. Yah, go for it, if it suits your needs.

If your apps are all OS9 and it gives you the speed you need then do it! OSX will still be on your disk should you need it.

I think I've said this before (and it's been suggested elsewhere), how about an OSX with an OS9 UI?
Aqua is lovely to look at be how much is it costing us in CPU? I know Quartz extreem is supposed to offload more to the GPU but what about us older Mac users stuck with ATI Rage etc?
If Apple ditched Transparency/fancy buttons/progress bars and all of the other iCandy it would be a lot snappier, it might help convince people like us to stay in X rather than going back to 9 for the speed increase??

How to make OSX work with OS9 UI?
Sounds interesting! Infact I didn't really spend a thought on the problem, that I might not find all my apps from osx on 9.2 too. So, that might turn out to become an issue... that's why it would be quite interesting to boost osx somehow

I dont think it is worth it (going back i mean)!
The whole user experience is so much better on os X, that going back to the lousy os IX just for the speed is not en option for me. Looks are everything! :) (and column-view)

Try e.g. disabling the move-effect on dock when you pass there with the mouse - use less transparencies etc - those save some CPU speed ..
Well - try the 9. I'd never go there (no classic at all here) but if you feel better in it, then why not :)
