MPEG2 Converstion

Hi all

I need to upload video clips to a website, I want to upload as MPEG2 in a 16:9 format. At the moment the MPEGS are huge so I am running them through a program called compressor but do not seem to be coming out in a standard format.
I want the end result to be set at 720x576 which I believe is standard PAL format for 16:9 but when compressor has finished doing its thing the MPEG2 files are coming out at a resolution of 720x404.
I'm pretty stuck with this already and have no idea why they are coming out at the random resolution.

Can anyone out there help me? If this doesn't make sense then please reply with some questions!!!

THanks

720x576 is a 4:3 ratio. 1024x576 is the 16:9 equivalent, with square pixels.

also, MPEG-2 is not really a scalable codec, it wasn't designed with the internet in mind. try MPEG-4, the result will be more desirable i think.
