My Electrocuting Powerbook

Hi,
Recently I left my powerbook plugged into the wall for a few days while I went out of town. When I came back I discovered that the power adapter no longer works, and it has little black spots on the plugs. I tried using the "extension cord" that comes with the adapter instead of the small plug that usually sits there, but that won't work either. I also discovered that, while my powerbook turns on and works fine on battery power, the surface around the trackpad where my wrists lay electrocutes me when I touch it.
Also, I am in Israel at the moment, so I had the computer's power adapter plugged into the wall via another adapter, to accomodate the different type of plug they have here. I haven't been using a voltage transformer because the adapter for the Mac says it supports 100-240 V.
I asked and there was no power outage while I was out of town.
Any idea on what might have happened and how I can get it taken care of? I realize I will probably have to get a new Mac adapter, but what can be done about my electrocuting powerbook?
Thanks.

You need to have it serviced. If you're getting a shock from the case, there's a short inside.

While you wait to get it serviced, I would take the battery out, just so you don't short-circut it.

If you used the grounded three-prong cable, the problem could be a grounding issue where you live. I recently had a similar issue in my home and got 162 V shocks from my MacBook Pro.

I did some googling on the electrical network in Israel to find whether it is two- or three-phase, but only found information and articles about Israel's ground forces and military power. Eh.
