My G4 PB won\'t Shut down

Hi. My problem is above. I'm on the latest system 10.4.3? Doesn't seem to be a problem if I boot from my external drive using 10.3.x. It had worked previously on the present system, however.

Regarding user level: I'd say I fall a bit short of advanced - in other words can follow fairly detailed instructions.

I tried to search this question but couldn't locate the search field.

When you performed the update from 10.3.x to 10.4.3, did you have any extra peripherals connected to the Mac other than the keyboard and mouse? If so, that might have been the cause of the problem. From what I've read here, it's best to usually unplug extra peripherals as well as to run a disk check and permissions repair before upgrading. Maybe you can do an Archive and Install of 10.3.x and then upgrade to 10.4.3 properly (I recommend downloading the Combo Updater to 10.4.3...that's what I've used instead of the Software Update option or the 10.4.3 Delta updater.)

Have you tried putting the powerbook to sleep?
In anycase,
I would try reseting the power management utility first.
