my hard disk capacity has shrunk...! help!

titanium g4 867, os10.3.9

I was backing up a dvd to my ipod using DVD2oneX (making a disk image) when I had a message saying my disk was full. I quit out and my finder window said I had zero k available on my laptop. I deleted the files from my ipod but still no disk space on my laptop.

when I get info for what is on my hard disk it says 20.26GB on disk (capacity=37GB), but in the finder window it says 1.5GB available.

where's the missing 15GB?!

I know for a fact it was there previously!

Any ideas? Help much appreciated!
 
use a utility to make your invisible files visible and see if you have a monster ".TemporaryItems" folder - if so - delete it --

Thanks for the reply, used 'find' to locate visible and invisible files containing '.TemporaryItems' and 'temp' but found nothing that appears to be the problem.

What kind of utility would help? any suggestions?

Many thanks...!!!

used hidden files and tracked 2 dvd disk images to a hidden volumes folder, deleted them and hey presto...!

What a handy utility! I've spotted one or two other bits and bobs that are binnable too.
