My IPOD now on my Intel Mac instead of pc

My ipod reads windows format. Menu | Settings | About

Now that I am using a mac, when I attempt to update my ipod, the ipod updater does nothing. Do I need to reformat my IPOD? If so how do I do this?

using the ipod updater, select 'restore'

but doing so on the mac will make it so a windows computer can not see it. if you still need a windows computer to see it, download the updater for windows and update it on a windows computer.
