I received my iMac early August... It has hanged for at least 10 times whatever it was 10.1 or 10.2... Dunno what problem... It has two kernal panic while installing 10.1 too! Crazy... :(

Anyone received the new iMac 17" got the same problem?

It could possibly be a hardware error with the processor or RAM actually damaged and/or faulty. I'd suggest you take it back while it's under warranty.

You could try zapping the PRAM (do a search on PRAM, you'll find it) but this sounds like the sort of thing that's only caused when a component is faulty. It might even be the hard-drive. Whatever the case, get it looked at promptly.

I had exactly that on my G3 a few years ago (before overclocking, of course). This was a problem of reliability in the processor. They solved it by exchanging the processor... 11 months later. They tried everything else before, without success. My main problem is that the reseller was not accepting that this machine had a problem because it passed all its tests.
