My New Camera!

Androo

Yeah, Androo.
I just got an amazing pocketsize camera... not POCKETSIZE but it CAN fit in my pocket.......
SAMSUNG Digimax 101 - 2x zoom (only 2x lol), 1.3 Mega Pixels (whatever that means!) takes 1280x1024 pics or smaller, has a nifty flash, and was only 169.99 Canadian! It uses USB, and takes MPEG videos.
This is MY camera, i share with my brother........................ it has video out btw........ o ya, i always used to use my dad's digital camera, but now i got my own digital camera...
Please share about your digital camera!

If you got it from Dad, then good going. 1.3 megapixels is a bit on the bottom end of the scale as far as resolution goes. If you have PhotoShop, you'll probably need to clean up the pics some.

That said, I love my Canon Ixus 3.2. I got mine in Singapore, but I guess the US name is the PowerShot S230. It's small and handy. I just got back from a holiday and hardly took out my ole JVC camcorder/digicam. And now that the digital printers are seriously dropping in price (and improving in quality), I'm thinking of getting one of the those. I'd be interested in hearing if any others have experience with these printers already and can offer some suggestions.

And when needed, I can take pics on my Nokia 3650 (video as well) and e-mail it myself (if I'm not at home with my card reader) if I need more space on my phone's external memory card.

I have a Toshibe PDR-3320. I'd love to smash it with a big hammer. For blurry crap pictures, it can't be beat.

I know it's a budget camera, but i was expecting maybe just a liiittle quality at the price I paid.

I think they go for about $10 on eBay now.

SLR for me. ;)

Androo: Megapixels tells how big of an image you can get. It is the number of millions of pixels you can capture. 1 megapixel is 1 million pixels, 2.5 megapixels is 2,500,000 pixels, etc. Basically what this means is that the more pixels you can capture, the bigger you can reprint your picture at photographic quality. For decent quality for an 8x10 print, you need at least 4 megapixels; now, they have cameras that go up to 6 megapixels, or jump all the way to 13(!).

A 1.3 megapixel camera, while giving you incredible shots on screen, will not produce anything bigger than 3x5 inches (7.62x12.7 cm) at high quality.

oooooooooo ok! thnx. Yeah he wasn't going for quality... he just wanted to get us a nice little device to bring with us. It takes like a quarter of a second to take the pic, and save. You can of course preview the pics afterwards, and cut the ones you dont like.

I love the hp photosmart 318 that came free with my iMac (along with the free printer and free scanner that the salesman used to trick mom into buying an old iMac right before the new ones came out :^(... ), and it's been a great camera. I got a 32MB compactflash memory card, and the thing holds about a hundred of low quality pictures, and about forty of the higest quality pictures. I wish it wouldn't take pictures so big though, it takes them at some incredibly big resolution that can't fit right on my monitor. Oh and it sucks batteries dead in like four hours... But it was free!
On a different note, does anybody know if any camera manufacturers make SLR-like digital camera's? I always wanted to learn to be a photographer, but could never make myself to shoot on film because it's so expensive to buy and develop. A digital with aperture, shutter speed, exposure, and all those fun manual controls is what I need, but I never have seen one.
