Recently all of my icon fonts and the upper fonts at the top of the computer screen (for my applications etc) have changed to AAAAA (in little black boxes). When I open up finder and all the icon fonts read AAAA but the information within the larger box is readable in english. I have opened up utilities and verified and repaired the disk etc which was fine but now it reads
Invalid volume free block count
Invalid volume free block count
uld be %@ instead of %@)",2)
5887743
5887734
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

Volume needs repair

I have even followed a link form a previous thread on this site

https://macosx.com/tech-support/mac/my-ibook-g3-w-os-9-osx-10-4-tiger-has-gone-haywire/22683.html

Which asks you to open up library and trash : com.apple.finder.plist
I have lost my start up disks but have a copy of them on my HD can I restart and fix it this way or do I have to transfer the start up disks on to CD. As I cannot read Toast to see what I'm copying, are there any other options or advice you can give me please, it is making it hard to use my laptop.

I have a G4 powerbook 1.5ghz power pc...

Please help, many thanks in advance, Danny.
