Mysql wont run

always when i try to strat mysql it says

ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)


dunno why, please help

i don't think ur MySQL server is running.

try starting it.

i know that mysql server is not running but when i try to strart it, the following message appears, it says" sh-2.05a# SystemStarter start MySQL

why does it hangup the hell?
