In the past month, I have
upgraded from 10.4.11 to 10.5.6;
added 2-1GB Ram modules;
backed up with a WD My Book Essential 2.0/3.0 USB;
installed iLife '09.
I use HughesNet satellite internet. And for the past 2 weeks (both times on Saturdays, July 9 & 16), my FAP (Fair Access Policy) limit has been exceeded. The problem is, I have not downloaded anything during the hours cited. I do have a router, but the man who installed the system assures me that someone would have to be in my driveway to be tapped in. (I live miles away from civilization, in mountains, on a dirt road, with no visible neighbors.)
I have also occasionally experienced a gray screen coming down over my monitor and a message to restart by holding down the power button.
Could any of the upgrades have contributed to these downloads? Could my gray screen be connected? HughesNet tells me that it is not their glitch, although I'm not sure about that.
