I need somebody to work directly with me for a little while, just some minor stuff. Basically somebody who can help me with "tables" and image maps by using css. Anybody up for the job? :)

Help!

Wish I could, but life is so hectic at the moment :( (hence my lack of posts). But if you post any questions/code, I'll endeavour to help.

Well if you get the chance here is what I need to do:

I need to have it so there is text on the left side of a page, and directly across from the text are some images. I can't figure out how to do it.

If you're stuck for someone, send me the image [in Adobe Photoshop format, ideally] and I'll see what I can do...

So if I send you the thing I need to be mapped up you'll do it for me? :D

I'll need to see it, first.

Stick it up somewhere [compressed] and send me the link.

Also, some good notes / instructions wouldn't go amiss...

Hey, thanks guys! If I need anymore help I'll let you know, but I should be fine for a while.

Thanks again!

2 things:
  1. Check out ImageReady, bundled with Photoshop. If you know Photoshop well (which you do), you shouldn't have trouble figuring out how to use ImageReady. And you can set your output settings to use HTML/CSS.
  2. IM me next time you see me online. If it's early enough, I'll surely have time to help you.

Stay as far away from ImageReady as possible, besides I think Arden misunderstood what you said.

Why an image map in the first place? The menu would be simple enough to do with a list and some styling and background images, not to mention much more compatible especially for those using non-standard devices to view the site.

Perhaps I did... but ImageReady is good for more than just animation. You can design a site in Photoshop, send it to ImageReady, and slice it up and add rollovers. I do it all the time. It's more useful than you might think. :)

But for a simple client-side image map, it may be a bit overkill. You'd be better off finding the coordinates for rectangles in Photoshop and simply entering them manually in HTML. Or, simply make a table out of HTML and CSS.

Trip, if you understand what you want to achieve and you're happy with the method you've used, then go with it.

Either that, or you keep coming here, taking on board all of the different ways of doing something and you end up with design by committee...
