Need to replace a broken Palm handheld

My wife's Palm Tungsten T5 handheld has died.

She needs a replacement. What's the best out there at the moment?

It needs to work / sync with a Mac - Currently use Mark/Space Missing Sync

It also needs to run an Excel compatible spreadsheet.

Does NOT need to have a phone.

Anything else like wifi/mp3 etc would be OK but not essential.

I run a Palm TX. She's thinking of buying one too, but is there anything better?

Though no excel spreadsheet (not simply a viewer). A Palm device would probably be best if you want the switch to be as simple as possible. However: A Palm device does not seem to be a future-proof investment in my opinion. Maybe get a rather cheap Palm replacement now and aim for an iPod touch or iPhone later on. My guesstimate is that Apple's touch platform will basically erase competition for PDAs on Mac OS X.
