Needing password after loading new OS

I have a G4 Powerbook. I installed the new Mac OSX and now I cannot log into my computer! The account name is "other.." When I click that it brings me to a username and password fields and my old username and password doesn't work and I don't know what to do..

(a second and i'm sure very stupid question did i format everything by installing the new OS over the old one?)
