Does anyone know if it is possible to use a non-Mac OS X server to use NetBoot on a OS X workstation.
How could this be configured? OpenFirmware trick?

lol you have a funny signature!

anyway, you want your macintosh to load mac os off a windows computer running a NetBoot server, right?

I'm not sure exactly how to do this, but here is what I do know:

NetBoot is basically another way of saying 'bootpd with tftpd'.
bootpd servs up IP information, as well as where to look for boot images. tftpd is the Trivial File Transfer Protocal. Its non-authenticated, and doesn't typically allow anything but directory-specific read only access.

You might have luck with a search on http://windows.davecentral.com for 'bootp'. However, this is certainly possable with Mac OS X workstation, as well as BSD and linux. I've never ran it before to boot a mac, but I have done it to boot various routers and diskless sparc stations.

If you get this working, please let us all know.

PS: in os9, there is an option in the Startup Disk control panel to boot off a network server. don't know about osx though.
